Honoring Heroes, Ushering in Summer: A Memorial Day Weekend Tradition
Honoring Heroes, Ushering in Summer: A Memorial Day Weekend Tradition
Every Memorial Day weekend, I walk quietly through our South Shore neighborhoods, planting American flags by my clients’ and neighbors’ mailboxes. This year, I placed 200 of them — each one a symbol of gratitude, remembrance, and community.
It’s a tradition I’ve carried on for the past 5 years. For me, it marks more than just the unofficial start of summer. It’s a heartfelt way to pause and honor the brave men and women who have given their lives in service to our country. It’s also a chance to connect with the people and places that make this community feel like home.
Real estate is about more than houses — it’s about people. It’s about building trust, sharing stories, and creating a sense of belonging. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve my clients not only in their real estate journeys but also in small, meaningful moments like this.
So as you gather with family and friends this weekend — whether for barbecues, parades, or a quiet moment of reflection — I hope you’ll join me in remembering those we’ve lost and celebrating the freedom they’ve helped preserve.
Wishing you a safe, peaceful, and meaningful Memorial Day weekend.
With gratitude,
Dawn Hadley
